Jordan has excelled at all areas of art since he was 10, but only began to explore and be recognized for his art during high school. Under the tutelage of Joan Hitchens he discovered the joy of creating in the third dimension and his passion for sculpture was born. His first creations focused on the use of found materials, rubbish, and other discarded elements while emphasizing spontaneous creativity.
Continuing with some of these first themes and materials, Jordan began his fine arts studies at Colorado State University in the fall of 2002 and spent the next four years constantly pushing to incorporate new ideas, methods and materials into his work. Through the teaching and guidance of Erick Johnson and Gary Voss from 2004-2006, he was able to achieve a level of professionalism and refinement in his art. Upon receiving his BA with a sculpture concentration in the spring of 2006, he has redirected his energies and art style upon the local art scene.
His work draws upon many futuristic and science-fiction themes, while still maintaining a unique form. Due to the influences of such local sculptors as Ruth Skogerboe, Leonard Pettus and Gary Lange, he is quickly “learning the ropes” of the art world. His work has been shown in numerous coffee shops around Fort Collins and Denver, and was recently selected to display at the Fort Collins Museum of Contemporary Art during their Emerging Artist Showcase in the Fall of 2006.
